Serving A Creative God
A few weeks ago, I was walking in the mornings for exercise. I begin to observe the creative abilities of the great, merciful, and mighty God that we serve. I realized, God didn't keep all of the creativity to himself, but he imparted a measure of creativity to all of mankind, that we may glorify him. Some have discovered their gifts and talents while others are still searching.
There are many people in the local churches with creative abilities, whether in music, drama, writing or performing, but may feel that unless they "make it ", they are insignificant. We sometimes view the one's who have "made it" as special and have more to offer, but we overlook the person that just has the desire to be used of God.
For example, three people in a local church, one is a singer, one is a lyricist and the other is a music writer. The singer is singing a special in two weeks for Sunday service. The singer realizes all their tracks have been performed before, so off they go to the retail store to find a track. Meanwhile the lyricist needs music to go with the heart wrenching lyrics that was just written. And the music writer is looking for lyrics for the music.
As you can see these people need one another to bring out the gift that God has given them. Even as music directors, it much easier to purchase choral music, than to use the creative talents God has given. Remember King David was a psalmist. I believe that God want us to edify one another in songs, hymns and choruses. And to use the gifts and abilities he has placed in our hands to the fullest. But most of all, I believe that people in the local church should have the avenues to achieve the call and desires God has placed in their heart.
